Good News (Korean: 굿뉴스) is a 2025 South Korean disaster black comedy film co-written and directed by Byun Sung-hyun for Netflix. The lead roles are played by Sul Kyung-gu, Hong Kyung and Ryoo Seung-bum. The film inspired by the hijacking of a Japanese passenger plane in March 1970, follows a secret mission led by a committed team intent on safely bringing down a hijacked aircraft, employing whatever tactics the situation demands.

The film had its world premiere in the Special Presentations section of the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on September 5, 2025. The film is available for global streaming on Netflix from October 17, 2025, following its festival release.

He happens to see Kwon Mi-Ji stealing from a jewelry store. He turns a blind eye to her crime, hoping his own guilt will go away. Kwon Mi-Ji then unexpectedly reveals to him the truth about the day of the hit-and-run accident and asks him to help her find her mother.

The film is based on the November 2015 Pattaya murder case of Thailand in which South Koreans in Thailand kidnapped, imprisoned and exploited computer programmers to operate an illegal gambling website.

The film is based on a real-life 2017–2018 illegal drug smuggling case in South Korea involving methamphetamine, which was caught through a collaborative effort of South Korea, Japan and Taiwan.

The Roundup: No Way Out was released theatrically on May 31, 2023.[6][7][8] A sequel, The Roundup: Punishment, was screened at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival on February 23, 2024.

The film was released theatrically on May 18, 2022 in IMAX format. Set 4 years after the previous film, Detective Ma Seok-do travels to Vietnam to extradite a suspect, but comes across some gruesome murders of Korean tourists by a vicious killer named Kang Hae-sung.

The film became the highest performing South Korean release since the COVID-19 pandemic.  It grossed $101.2 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing Korean film of 2022 and the third-highest-grossing Korean film of all time.  A sequel The Roundup: No Way Out was released in May 2023.

Burning (Korean: 버닝) is a 2018 psychological thriller film co-written, produced, and directed by Lee Chang-dong. The film is based on the short story "Barn Burning" from The Elephant Vanishes by Haruki Murakami, with elements inspired by William Faulkner's story of the same name. 


It stars Yoo Ah-in, Steven Yeun, and Jeon Jong-seo. The plot depicts a young deliveryman, Jong-su (Yoo), who runs into his childhood friend, Hae-mi (Jeon). They soon meet an enigmatic young man named Ben (Yeun), whom Jong-su becomes suspicious of, and he begins to believe Hae-mi is in danger.

The first film by Lee after a hiatus of eight years, the film premiered on May 16, 2018, at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, where it competed for the Palme d'Or; it ended up receiving the FIPRESCI International Critics' Prize at the festival. It was released the following day in South Korea and on October 26, 2018, in the United States.


The film received widespread critical acclaim, with praise for its sense of unease, ambiguous narrative, and three leads' performances. It was selected as the South Korean entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 91st Academy Awards; although it was not nominated, it became the first Korean film to make it to the final nine-film shortlist. It received numerous other accolades, and was included on several critics' "top ten" lists for the year 2018, notably those of The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and the Associated Press. It has been regarded by some critics as one of the best films of the 21st century, and it was voted as the best Korean film of all time on Korean Screen, from a poll of over 150 critics from 28 countries, displacing movies like Parasite (2019), Oldboy (2003) and The Housemaid (1960).

The film, mainly set in 1930s Seoul and Shanghai during the Japanese occupation of Korea, depicts a group of Korean resistance fighters' plan to assassinate a highly ranked Japanese officer. The film drew over 12.7 million admissions, and is currently the eleventh-highest-grossing movie in South Korean film history. Assassination also won Best Film at the 36th Blue Dragon Film Awards and 52nd Baeksang Arts Awards.

태극기 휘날리며 | The Brotherhood of War [2004]

Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War (Korean: 태극기 휘날리며; RR: Taegeukgi hwinallimyeo) is a 2004 South Korean war film directed by Kang Je-gyu. It stars Jang Dong-gun and Won Bin and tells the story of two brothers who are forcibly drafted into the South Korean army at the outbreak of the Korean War.

Kang Je-gyu made a name for himself directing Shiri and was able to attract top talent and capital to his new project, eventually spending 12.8 million USD on production. The film became one of the biggest successes in the South Korean film history up to that time, attracting 11.74 million people to the theatre, beating the previous record holder Silmido.

When My Sassy Girl was released across East Asia, it became a blockbuster in the region, becoming a hit in Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
